Good if you've only basic knowledge of Islam
Feb 2020
This museums is all about Islam and Islam in Melaka/Malaysia. The museum is situated in a heritage building with exhibits set over 2 floors. The 1st floor mostly covers basics of Islam and what it means to be a muslim. The information covers the basics well with a little more depth than just the basics, which made it a little more interesting. There were even some exhibits on Islamic designs and what they represent e.g the architecture sculptures that adorn Islamic style buildings.

The 2nd floor was quite boring though. It does go into more depth about the organisation of Islam, important Malaccan religious people and religious education in Melaka. Something I imagine would only be of interest to a muslim and even then maybe not.

Overall, I learnt a little bit more about Islam, so that’s a good thing.

Small and inexpensive museum

Good for someone who has minimal previous exposure to Islam. But hot and stuffy inside (fans and aircon not turned on), some exhibits very dusty too.

Good example of Malacca multicultural identity
Feb 2018 • Solo
Well documented introduction to Islam in general, and its history with Malacca.
The objects and boards would deserve a serious display upgrading, including the interesting texts, generally too small to go through, some even covered with fungi.
The building is a brilliant example of Dutch architecture with Malay and Chinese influence, nicely restored, especially the gallery at the 1st storey.

Brief introduction about the Muslim history in Melaka
Mar 2017
Besides the history of local Muslim in Melaka, i enjoyed its architecture pretty much. A line of windows on the first floor is a smart design to get the air to cool down the building.

A fair insight into Islam
Jan 2017 • Couples
For a westerner who knows little about Islam, the museum provided a good insight into the history of Islam in Malaysia, and something of its culture. There's plenty so see and the entry price is small.

Nice collection of Islamic artifacts
Apr 2016 • Solo
Small building with a decent-sized collection of Islamic artifacts, and plenty of information about Islamic culture. The artifacts themselves look very nice and cover a wide variety of mediums, from practical objects like teacups and vases to religious texts and similar items. The outer area is nicely landscaped too and is a good place to rest for a few minutes. While this museum isn't as large as some other Islamic museums in Malaysia (such as the huge one in Kuala Lumpur), it's still worth a look to those in the area who are interested in Islamic culture.

Very Educative
Jul 2016 • Solo
Provides a good amount of information about Islam, the history of Islam and Islam in Malaysia. A great deal to learn, I spent 2-3 hours inside.

Entrance is only 3 RM.
The few staff that were there were speaking very loud, but they will keep silent if you ask them to.

I definitely recommend visiting this museum.

Very red.

Islamic things, but not really interesting. And not much too see either. I think it is a waste of time. The building is nice, though. It's catchy and red.
