About
Villa Sentosa Melaka is a fine example of a traditional Malay village house located in Kampung Morten, on the banks of the Malacca River within walking distance of the historic UNESCO World Heritage district of Melaka City. Villa Sentosa is perhaps the most attractive and best preserved of all the houses in Kampung Morten and it now serves as a private museum and is open to the public. It is known as The Malay Living Museum.

It said on their Facebook it is open from 10am. Got there, gate was locked. Came back after a walk round kampung Morten and still closed. Sent a Facebook message, no reply. Disappointed.

We took a detour to visit this place as we missed it the last time.

We were shown around by the owner, Haji Ibrahim who is the descendent of the founder of this village. Lots of cool antiques to see. Entrance is free but donations are welcomed for the upkeep of the house.

It is a beautiful example of a traditional building and it is free as well. Great displays, furniture and information. It is a lovely walk along the river to get there as well with great spots to take photos along the way. A good way to spend an hour or so absorbing it all and appreciating the history of the villa and the area it is located in.

The owners of this Villa have open the door of their house and organise guided tour where it's possible to see some important events which occured along its existence.
The entrance is free and and the end of the guided tour there is a free donation to give.
I find the tour very interesting.
The only drawback is that Villa Sentosa is quite far away from the center of Melaka. We went on foot but it took us a lot of time.

Huge villa to view with lots of interesting artefacts - some priceless to view. We had an informative brief tour. Then directed towards the ‘donation box’ before leaving!!!!!

Well worth the visit if your doing the river walk. An old family house turned into a mini museum of the Malay past. Well kept up,you can have a tour with one of the family members. Donations are appreciated to help with the upkeep

On my 1st day in Melaka , chanced upon this property as I was walking along the river. It really is wonderful to see a genuine "kampung" house inside and out! The guide/owner led us on tour around the property, giving clear, interesting details along the way. Worth a vist if you want a feel of the real Melaka and Malay culture.
