My wife and I found this to be a very pleasant and informative museum which tells the story of Mobile and its inhabitants throughout history. The museum does an excellent job of teaching visitors about slavery in general and how it affected the lives of all residents in this region. It also covers how the people of Mobile contributed to... The History Museum of Mobile offers a walk through Mobile's history starting in the 1700s. With so many years to cover, and having had so many different flags fly over this city, I thought the history was succinct and really informative. I loved looking at the dollhouses, and checking out the carriages used throughout the city prior to the automobile,... More

My brother-in-law and I visited this Museum this morning. We arrived at 09:30 A.M., left at 12:00 P.M., and we could have spent the rest of the day there. The regular admission is $10.00.00, but check on discounted prices. The guard reception desk gives you a laminated map of the 2 (two) floors, and you are to return the same... More

Went with a friend to visit this museum. The people there could not have been nicer. If you like dollhouses, they have a fantastic exhibit. They also have a nice history of the area and a few hands on things for kids. Allow at least an hour. Clean restrooms if you need them while you are there. Located in the... More

The location of the museum is housed in the Old City Hall and Southern Market site. So many galleries to view. We found this museum to be so interesting learning about Mobile. It is open Monday-Saturday 9:00am-5:00pm and Sunday 1:00PM-5:00pm. The front receptionist was so kind and loving. She found a wheelchair for my husband to use and the docent... More

The History Museum of Mobile was disappointing. The exhibits are static containing modest information about the history of Mobile. Not worth a special visit but ok if you are walking past the museum.

Thus museum is housed in the same building with the Mobile's Visitor Center. A great way to spend the afternoon learning about Mobile's colorful history.

Great museum. Just big enough to give you a taste of the history of Mobile without overwhelming you. This is right next door to the visitor center and other museums so it was convenient for all.

$10 entrance fee to this excellent museum about the area. Exhibits are tastefully and interestingly presented and cover indigenous tribes to European settlers, civil war, reconstruction, world wars, civil rights right up to date. We've visited a few museums on our Deep South trip and all of the municipality museums are good, but this has been the best. Educational, inspiring,... More

The history is excellent. We did not use a tour guide. I wish we had! I think we would have learned a little more had we paid for a tour guide.
