Due to security, I could not find any place to view the lock/channel. It seems that the best place to view the dam and lock is the rotating restaurant at the nearby Marriott.

If you enjoy engineering marvels, check out the Wilson Lock & Dam. You can drive or walk across the dam, giving you great views of the Tennessee River and it's really interesting to see the equipment on top of the dam and below. Best of all, it's free to check out and you can spend as little time as you... More

Some nice views of the Tennessee river and Wilson dam, good walking area, picnicking and just relaxing. Some interesting notes on the history of the TVA Projects and CCC.

Wilson dam and the Muscle Shoals TVA reservation are why the TVA was created in the first place. A coal plant was built in 1918 to help with the war effort producing nitrates for bombs. It also helped with power to build the Wilson Dam. After the war the government did know what to do with the facilities. With the... More

This is a very big (long) dam, probably one of the longest that I have been across. It is quite narrow, it is closed now due to work being done. The concrete work is incredible. Pretty area. Definately worth a look & it's free!

The Wilson dam is a interesting site to visit in Muscle Shoals. There are several overlooks to see the water coming out of the dam. One of the overlooks has a small park for children, restrooms, and 3 waterfalls to view. I went to this site after going to the Wichahpi Commemorative Wall ran by Mr. Hendrick. It was really... This is a must see! It is very interesting especially for boating enthusiasts. It is amazing to watch as the lock fills and empties to allow the boats/barges to travel on the Tennessee River. It is free, too!

We navigated the lock in our steamboat. The engineering and, logistics and vision are really impressive.

You can drive right up To the river and walk out onto a viewing area. You can see boats and listen to the great Tennessee River, yes you can hear it sign. It's kind of spiritual being there
