I have visited several markets in the past couple years in Shanghai and this market several times. It is not the largest market by far, but they aren't quite as aggressive as in some other ones around the city. Of course you bargain for the best price, which is half the fun. They have recently added some new stores on... More

I really don't know and I am not a fan of the bargaining that somebody find sporty and which seem to be pretty common here but there is a lot of stuff. You might find anything. I bought my daughter a large scroll painting of peonies, very colorful and a set of ink brushes for about %50. Then at a... More

WARNING Enter with full knowledge you will be overcharged. Drinks available less than 100 meters away are half the price charged here, buy one of the staff a drink and you will be charged 100 even if it's only Coca Cola. But don't blame staff, they have their instructions from owner.

This is a jewelry shop on the 2 nd floor...It says Laura not Laurie right over the shops doorway...it has fabulous items from cute custom items to very high end......the shop owners speak very good English and are fair and helpful...if you don't find what you want, they will make it for you...in fact , they will make it while... Travelling by metro on line 10, we got off at Longxi Road exit 2 and turned rght. Walk to the next corner and turn right into Hongqiao Road. Keep walking until you cross the road under the flyover and you will see the market. Not as big as others in the city but some good deals to be had on... More

I enjoyed shopping for shoes, pearls, electronics and trinkets to bring home. You can go many places in Shanghai to find these items, however, here you have a huge selection in one place. Fun to negotiate, too.

My husband and I visited the pearl market on the weekend. It was not crowded at all. This is a smaller version of the Pearl market in Beijing, although the Pearl jewelry stores here are more upscale. I found the prices here to be quite high in comparison to the market in Pudong and Nanjing West Rd. There is a... More

I purchased three pair of eyeglasses including the exam for a little over $100.00. This is a great place to have a custom suit made or purchase some quality shoes. Yes, there are fake items here, but there are even more unbranded quality items. Excellent prices on shoes & bags. You can find toys on the top floor as well... More

The mall is pretty unimpressive. The ground floor is occupied by sundry shops selling bags, tees, souvenirs etc. whilst the upper floor shops sell mostly pearls. My advice would be to walk around, compare prices before making your final decision. Most of the shops carry more or less the same items but the prices can differ quite a bit. I... More

If you want to buy or are into pearls this is the place to visit as you will get reasonably priced pearls and even if you are not into them worth just seeing.

Gubei / Hongqiao / Minhang
West of Shanghai’s better-known business, cultural and entertainment centers, lies an expansive area of residential neighborhoods peppered with lifestyle pockets that have their own unique attractions. The schools have formed pockets of international communities throughout Gubei, Hongqiao and Minhang. Quite a few entertainment and shopping centers have built up over the years to cater to these communities.
