All the quirky alleyways and shops really provide a big contrast to modern Shanghai. There are so many alleyways to explore, with a large variety of shops, bars, cafés and restaurants. Really a nice place to stroll around, feast your eyes, and maybe even buy...More

Very artistic alleys with lots of things to see and eat. I love the grilled squid and my daughter loves playing with the "dragon's breath" made out of cereal. Special thanks to one talented artist (forgot his name), to give us memorable portraits.

I came here one lunchtime and it was lovely, very ornate and really cute little shops. I came again with my parents at around 5/6pm and it was far too busy to enjoy. Would definitely recommend but go during the day and not on a...More

Easy to spend some time here. Shopping was plentiful, with a wide variety from tourist kitsch to high quality local items. Loved the Cat Cafe! We did not eat in this area, but there were many options to choose from that looked, and smelled, delicious....More

Went on weekends and it was so crowded after 12noon. Suggest to avoid weekends if you want to enjoy your shopping or explore the areas. Some unique shops. Chinese traditional script name stamp/seal store here definitely is cheaper compared to other touristy areas like in...More

A lot of people in this place especially in the evening, have difficulty moving around. Although it is full of tourists, it still worth a visit because of the ambience there. Old buildings still occupied by local residents, and vendors selling all kind of stuff,...More

Recommende place for tourist. Don't forget to bargain, they set their price very high for tourist. Recommend the indian restaurant in tian zi fang, located near one of the main entrance.

This is a dining place I think. A lot of bars and restaurants. But I need not visit any of them. The overall concept, buildings and lightings just make the place beautiful. I think it’s a very French style place. I enjoy walking around, taking...More

Former French Concession
While there are technical borders to the area formerly
governed by the French in Shanghai, the "French
Concession" of today is an amorphous neighborhood that
is a favorite of the city's foreign residents. While
it is mostly within the Xuhui district, residents will
sometimes include parts of Jing'an and Luwan in their
mental maps of the Former French Concession. The area
seems frozen in time, characterized by quiet,
