We walked along the river in the evening for about 30 minutes on the Bund side. The night time views are simply spectacular. We decided to take the public ferry ( Address #139) across the river. It's about a 10 minute ride for 2-RMB. You can view both shorelines from outside deck.

I booked a night dinner cruise as part of my tour package. I had an awesome guide and the night we sailed was so wonderful. It is a relaxing way to see Shanghai and the lights are so beautiful. I don't remember how long the cruise lasts, but the boat traveled both sides so you get great views of the... More

This is a lovely and rather wide river, separating the two banks of Shanghai. While we did not take a cruise on the river, we did watch it both from the Bund bank and the Pudong bank, in various hours of the day, and it was absolutely beautiful.

Enjoy the ferry ride on the river. It will give you ample time to enjoy the views and click photographs and its quite cheap too.

I went on an evening cruise of the Huangpu River and was immediately impressed by the variety of interesting architecture on both eastern & western sides. Of course what caught my eye the most, were the super modern skyscrapers on the western bank with so many interesting designs, vivid colours & neon lights. The Oriental Pearl Tower was especially dazzling!... More

To cross the river you can take the tunnel (very expensive) which is a bit of a cheesy attraction, the metro - fastest and cheapest way. Also you can take the ferry and have time to admire the view on both sides. It is extremely cheap and worth doing day and night for different photo opportunities.

The river area is quite beautiful. The river separates the financial district ( Bund ) from downtown Shanghai. I would recommend anyone flying to Shanghai visit this area.

A visit to the Promenade in downtown Shanghai - an interesting take if it had been clear. But sadly cold night and smog covering most of the buildings ....... from what my local friend said it has been coming over the last 2 winters. However we strolled down it after parking their car and took a few photos .... one... More
