Our group of six from Canada had a pleasant day of touring with Authentic Shanghai's Flora Lin. She was well-spoken, prompt and professional. Flora arranged a driver and van (kind of bumpy in the back) to take us to see Zhouzhuang, the water city. It was a Sunday so the site was very busy, but Flora knew how to "dodge... More

Great tour guide. She speaks excellent English and was able to change the day's schedule to meet our needs and expectations. The tour is a good overview of Shanghai... the new and the old. Thank you! Toomey

Flora has managed to arrange a wonderful ground trip to Suzhou, Zhouzhuang and Hangzhou for my family who came to visit me in Shanghai. She manages to get the itinerary complete given such short notice and I had a wonderful moment with my family in this trip.

I arranged for Flora Lin to pick me up at the airport and provide me with a 7 hour tour of Shanghai. Flora scheduled a very nice tour. She knows her sites, history and current events extremely well. I strongly recommend that you consider her for your touring needs.

We spent a day with Flora Lin shopping in Shanghai at places that Flora Lin suggested, and we were very pleased with the outcome. We visited the Shanghai Jiangnan Silk Museum, where my girl friend got a really lovely and fine duvet cover that is in a classical music theme. I got a silk long sleeved shirt that is nicer... More

Flora is just the kind of guide one needs when traveling solo; Friendly, punctual and flexible; Ready to guide you through the mysteries of Shanghai. Although I generally think guided tours are boring, guiding-on-demand was a wonderful experience indeed. I really enjoyed every single moment I spent in Shanghai as well as every single moment of Flora's guiding. I was... More

Staying in Xintiandi

Neighbourhood Profile
The refurbishment of a block of old shikumen into a carless entertainment center called Xintiandi, filled with restaurants, shops and bars, turned this area below South Huangpi Road into one of Shanghai’s most fashionable areas. Luxe condos house people who can afford the high-end brands that fill the malls and shops along Madang Road. The pleasant Taipinghu Park provides the area with green space and is also home to Shanghai Fashion Week twice a year. It’s not all glitter and glamour, though, as the rise of Danshui Road has given the Xintiandi area a shot of toned-down character. Small bars and cafes, mostly owned by locals, have people hanging out in a formerly quiet, unassuming part of the neighborhood.
