I didn't stay at the hotel this trip but I certainly visited it, took pics of the magnificent foyer (again) and had lunch in the little coffee shop...... it's a wonderful place!

We visited here on a busy saturday night and watched the worlds oldest jazz band - it is free to watch, however, there is a minimum spend on tables in the bar area - excellent way to spend a relaxing evening - might be worth booking as people were turned away whilst we were there

Came down to enjoy the jazz and watch the people. After enduring the chaos of Nanjing Road I welcomed some downtime sitting in the jazz bar. Overpriced but still worth it considering the entertainment. You will meet a lot of characters in that place.

Love his this hotel provided very old school Jazz band, dont expect modern jazz, these guys plays old school ballad and I admire them cause of their age. These guys are no less than 70 years young, expect for the singer of course. This place is cramped but it just suits fine for a few friends gathering to have a... More

I stop by every visit, just to slowly sip on a delicious (but very expensive!) cocktail, sit back, relax, and watch the old men play Jazz. Have a walk around the bottom floor to see the photos of celebrities that visited this hotel.

Hotel is just across from the Bund. Very nice hotel. Room is decorated beautifully. Just 7 storey tall. My room is located on the 3rd floor. Surprisingly was sound proof and could not hear the outside traffic. If you have big groups, can request for connecting rooms. Jazz bar is worth visiting. Unfortunately, is open to Adults 18 years and... More

Staying in The Bund

Neighbourhood Profile
The Bund
While there are certainly many other “bunds” in the world, “the Bund” refers to Shanghai’s famous waterfront. The area’s Gothic, Art Deco and Beaux Arts monoliths were built when it was part of the Shanghai International Settlement run by the British and Americans. The atmosphere of colonial-era luxury has endured over time and is now found in the five-star hotels, luxury brand boutiques and expensive restaurants that can be found within the historic buildings. A cultural center has built up away from the water and some of Shanghai’s best art galleries and museums are housed close to the Bund. Nighttime views of Pudong and the rest of the city also make for a great backdrop at the many rooftop clubs.
