This Chinese Buddhist Temple hosts two jade Buddha statues imported from Burma, along with many other cultural relics. It is a peaceful refuge from the modern bustle of Shanghai, where monks may be seen and heard conducting Buddhist ceremonies.

Enjoyed looking at all the golden Buddhas and the jade ones too and only found I couldn’t photograph the sitting jade Buddha as signs and officials prevented it. It is a place of worship of course and prayer and offerings were being made so a...More

It was very interesting to see the Jade Buddha as well as all the other statues, but I what I really like is all the Koi in the pond. There must be thousands of them and really big in size.

This is worth every bit of the Y20 entry fee. You can get there by Line 13 JingAn station and walk 5 mins over. Turn right after you get out of the station, along a small quiet road. It is a working temple, so you...More

This enormous single piece of jade from which this Buddha was carved must have been difficult to move back in the days before trains, trucks, and cranes. The temple is very serene, and there is the added bonus of a large collection of exemplary bonsai,...More

At the front area of this temple is a "sprawling" building with two long sides where there are rooms with beautiful Buddha statues inside including one reclining one (the rooms are mostly just to take a peek from right outside if I remember correctly). Then...More

Despite the building works going on all around, I was glad i called in for the CNY20 fee: some beautiful shrines and peaceful contemplation in the middle of Shanghai. This is still a place of worship for some, though (which others didnt realise). Watch out...More

My family is buddhist so I am familiar with diverse temples. Jade buddha is really new and impressive to me though. Very calm and reasonable ticket price 20 yuan for an adult. Additionally, you can get an experience of the buddhist scripture ‘The heart Sutra’
