Although this is a fairly small eco centre, it has a wonderful atmosphere, from the butterfly gardens that house butterflies in all stages of growth, to the lake with the resident crocodiles, and the different varieties of monkey and reptiles. The guide was so knowledgeable and patient and helped us to take some amazing photographs. We were fortunate in that... More

This is a small private nature reserve outside La Fortuna, but it is packed with interesting flora and fauna. Our guide, Elias, was superb. Maybe the best guide we had during our 11 days in Costa Rica.

Hands-down, the best place/tour to view animals in their natural habitat! My family (party of 5, 2 kids and Grandma) all enjoyed this tour immensely! We were fortunate to have booked Elias to be our Guide, as he did an incredible job of walking us through the park and finding each animal we wanted to see, especially with his telescope,... More

This little forested area has an amazing amount of wildlife. Just waiting for the walking tour to start we saw dozens of birds, reptiles, and small mammals. The main attraction are the sloths, which can be difficult to spot up in the tree-tops, but the knowledgeable and patient guides have telescopes to help you get a better view. The tour... More

Our guide Walter was awesome and found so many amazing animals and birds for us to see. We even saw a sloth with her baby and got awesome photos. Definitely recommend going and have a guide as you will miss many animals that blend into the jungle if you go without a guide.

Very understated locally, but well worth the 10 min (taxi) trip. Peaceful hour stroll, with great bird life and butterflies. A % of your fee goes towards the upkeep

This little jungle reserve is much quieter than some others and has no adventures nor treetop activities, but if you want to see wildlife, it's pretty good and very reasonably priced. There were sloths along with the birds in the trees on the way in and inside we saw more birds, including a heron feeding its young, caymens, a buttefly... More

Elias was a great guide. Definitely do the guided tour. He is very experienced and will find species that you have no idea are right in front of your eyes. Well worth the $20 spend. Go early in the day/morning as that's when you will find the animals out in plain sight. Took my 2 year old grand in his... More

Ecocentral Danaus on the outskirts of Fortuna packs a lot of nature into a very compact preserve! The trails are well maintained and wind through a restored forest, around a spring-fed small lake that is home to a nesting colony of Boat-billed Herons, by a collection of orchids and through a well stocked butterfly garden. Many species of birds are... More

While on a tour going to Arenal Volcano with Mardigi Tours, we made a stop at this wonderful ecological reserve. Our guide, Rodrigo, was terrific. He could spot things that we would have passed right by. He also used his binoculars to snap up-close pictures for us of birds, sloths, and frogs. The foliage throughout was quite beautiful in this... More
