Beautiful crushed shells beach, gorgeous clear water, especially at low tide. If you are in the Brasilito area, Playa Conchal is a must visit.
Unfortunately, be very careful with the vendors. They offer food , as well as alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks, however you have to be very selective with whom you buy from and what you buy. Multiple vendors offered us pina coladas, and I went with this unassuming, middle aged woman, who seemed nice. We agree on a price (EVERYTHING seems to be up for negotiations in Costa Rica) and she offered to make the pina coladas and bring them to us. She came with 2 pina coladas, poured in pineapples nicely decorated with watermelons and pineapple slices. All was good until we finished our drinks and went to dispose of the two pineapples in a nearby garbage can. I believe she was watching us because she quickly came and offered to dispose of the two pineapples for us. Somehow, a red flag went up for me and pretending I was doing something else, I watched her reuse one of the two pineapples for someone else's drink. I almost fainted, as it was clear that she had been reusing those pineapples for our drinks as well. I mean, God only knows how many people drank out of the same pineapple!!!!!! And this is during a pandemic, when the US has Costa Rica on the highest red alert for Covid19. Fortunately, we tested negative for our return to the US, but this was one big mishap for us.

Playa Conchal is not a very long beach and it's set in a curved harbor. The water is very clear and the entire beach is made of sea shells which is beautiful. There are many people on the beach who will try and sell you things, some which is nice but you can also politely decline.
The women offering massages in front of the beach are actually very nice and do a great job, especially for a good price. There was a woman there named Lady who was especially good and I recommend her.

I loved this beach, beautiful quiet and we did not get heckled by locals.
Took a nap under the trees and I stayed in the water for hours . Never in my life have I stayed that long in the ocean.
The drinks we ordered seemed watered down …

We so enjoyed our day at Playa Conchal! We stayed at the Deria and had our driver bring us here based on reviews. There was a short walk once you get to the area, but even the walk was neat. I had my 2 sons(19 and 22) and husband so we carried our cooler ourselves, but someone will take your stuff in a wagon as well. You walked down a black sand beach which was cool itself, then you walked down a path(wear shoes) and over to the beautiful white shell beach. We were greeted by a guy who will set you up if you want it(very affordably) with a shelter(take it) snorkels, and canoe if you want it, massages on the beach( the best I've ever had) and drinks. If you don't want it, just say no thank you. We also got an hour jet ski which was pricey, but fun. Everything else super reasonable!Be sure to tip well, especially the massage ladies. They work hard very reasonably! It was a super day on a beautiful beach with lovely people.

We had a great time at the Westin. People at the Westin Playa Conchal were exceptional. They were very kind and sincere. The people at the activities desk we re great. We hiked, played Pickleball, yoga , aqua aerobics and worked out in the gym. Andreas, Ruddy and Ronald were fantastic. Everyone else we interacted with were also great. In fact people around the hotel went out of their way to please us. The dinners were the best all inclusive meals we ever had. I highly recommend taking a walk or hike because they are very informative.

*Nina Massage* 5 stars, incredible!
My fiancé and I loved our massages from Nina y Nina (mother/daughter). Look for them between the beach/ocean and the Westin Hotel under the trees. They are situated around other massage tents, but trust me these two are worth a visit. Our first day we saw somebody else, then they found us the second day. After that we were hooked and went back to Nina Massage every day. We’ve had many professional massages in resorts, spas, etc. They were just as good if not better, we went with a “strong” massage, and it was very firm. They also do relaxed and medium if you like less. I’d recommend bringing your towels from the hotel, as that’s what we did. But they also had their own clean linens and alcohol spray.
At the time of the review, they charge $20 / per hour per person. Which was the going market rate with all the massage tents. I also encourage tipping on top of that if you like your massage!
Don’t think twice and get one, it’s a great experience. I recommend going in the morning when it’s not hot. They start around 07:30am.

If you are in Tamarindo area and don’t visit the Conchal Beach, you are missing a day of serenity at the most beaitiful beach of that area. I wish I could add my own pictures in this review, because the picture you see is not really showcasing the beauty of it. We went again the next day. It is 20 min taxi-ride for $15 or so.

Wow what a stunning beach! We were so happy to have stopped at this beach for the day. They water was crystal clear and the seashells everywhere only added to the beauty. There was minimal waves and you could walk out into the ocean with no issue. There were people available to rent you chairs, an easy up, see-doo’s and snorkels. Of course they had other food and item vendors as well.

At 4 pm the horse tour operators come by along the shoreline and have their long lines of horses with their riders poop all over the beach and in the water. Truly disgusting. I’ve been to lots of public beaches and never seen tour operators operate their horse business in such an irresponsible way. I would not swim in this bay or sit on the beach. The smell alone was gross. Very unsanitary.

we will be staying there 2 weeks. Where can we buy food to cook ourselves. Are there any markets there? Where is the nearest market? Will the shuttle take you to town? Tanarindo?
Written 5 June 2019
There are supermarkets in Brasalito (10 minutes), Tamarrindo (30 minutes) and right down the street from the Reserve Conchal, ask at the check in they are very helpful. I've never stayed in these Condos, but there is a shuttle service you could most likely use at the Westin, for Tamarrindo.

Can you get there from Tamarindo by car? And can you park near the beach?
Written 30 April 2019
Yes. We went there after Tamarindo. We parked by Brasilitos and walked in.

I will be driving to Playa Conchal from Coco Beach, for a day trip. Is beach access and parking difficult to find. Any suggestions?
Thanks!
Written 13 January 2019
You’ll need to park at Playa Brasilito (one beach down from Conchal) - there’s parking restaurants and shops there- you’ll then need to traverse Playa Brasilito to get to Playa Conchal - 2 very different beaches. If you’re there in high season plan to get there early, it’s one of the more crowded beaches.

Hi, me and 2 family are going to Reserva Conchal ,February 06/13, we are arriving in Liberia airport, we need to get to Reserva Conchal resort, what would be the cheapest way, as we have to go back to the airport.
Written 12 January 2019
I don't know if this is the very cheapest, but we have been using Rainer Lopez and Pininos Adventures for many years for transportation and to arrange tours and activities. Not only do they provide reliable and reasonable rates, but can provide a wealth of information and great recommendations.
