Great place to take your family, clean and safe. The beach is a destination for the locals on weekends, you can get a massage, French ceviche, delicious shaved ice from all local vendors along the beach. It's a real jewel.

This beach is awesome. We stayed here 4 nights....I prefer the beach here over coco playa because it's calmer and less commercialized. They have several restaurants that are enjoyable with excellent food. The bay is beautiful here with less boats in the water, so it feels more natural.

We stayed here for several days, and it was chosen primarily because the rest of the coast was booked up. Lucky for us as this is a far more pleasant place to stay than in the thick of Playa Del Coco or similar. A good balance between locals and tourists make this feel a little more authentic, and it's not... More

Third day in Playa Hermosa and the second day where I took a nice morning walk on the beach....which is just a few minutes walk from my hotel. The beach is simply beautiful. The sand is grey/black and there is a walking path the full length of the beach in the trees. There are a mix of what looks like... More

Playa hermosa is nice beach for swimming and walking. It's a pity that loud music and open fires for BBQing are allowed. The beach is clean, although more dustbins are allowed. even I am wondering how many times per year there is a serious accident between a waterscooter and a person swimming.

I walked from our condo on a hill and found myself among lots of Costa Ricans. It was a great experience. It was a sunny afternoon in late December and the beach was busy but not crowded. Lots of space to park yourself. There are also a couple of parking lots, one on each side of the beach. I liked... More

We were staying at Playas del Coco, which wasn't very nice. Nor was Playa Panama. But Playa Hermosa was lovely. We saw Howler monkeys, parrots and iguanas right next to the beach. Black sand beach, nicely shaded, very smooth (not rocky), gentle waves. Great for walking, swimming or just relaxing. Nice mix of Costa Rican families and foreigners. Lots of... More

my friend and i drive to playa hermosa after breakfast to get away from playa del coco for a bit. there was plenty of parking and the attendant was kind enough to tell us not to park under a tree that will stain your rental car. they charge about $1/$2 to ole but collect at the end. once we gathered...
