They pick you up at your hotel/accommodation and take you to the biological reserve. It was billed as a 2 1/2 hour hike but was actually more like 3 1/2. The guide identified indigenous and non-indigenous foliage and explained their impacts on the environment and how the indigenous people used them for building or pharmaceuticals. The Guide, 'Bernie' is a... More

We learned interesting information about trees and plants, but we didn't see any animals except for a a bat and a couple of butterflies, even though the guide had a spotting scope. You'd probably have more success with the morning tour, and it would be somewhat less hot. It's not one of the better options in Samara for younger children... More

The guides were very knowledgeable and did a great job of finding bats, birds, butterflies and monkeys on the trails. They had great snacks and provided water too!! I would recommend this as a fun morning activity.

It's a great opportunity to learn about flora and some fauna of the "dryforest" in the vicinity of Samara. The guide is impressively knowledgeable, the tour is very well organized and extremely interesting, even for people who might not consider themselves "nature aficionados". It can be truly recommended to everybody between 5 and 95, maybe considering the closeness to the... More

Our family went and had an excellent time. Our guide, Berny, was very knowledgeable and stopped often to point out special things. My youngest was 10 and she was able to keep up. I would highly recommend it!

Wonderful & knowledgeable guide with keen eye to spot howler monkeys, birds etc. Hike can be a little challenging in spots especially if it has rained but well worth the vistas.

We did this walk on a morning with the family- two adults and two teens. It was a highlight of our trip. Berny was so enthusiastic and knowledgeable without being pendant or overbearing. The walk up to the view was a bit strenuous, but nothing that most people couldn't do, and the view was superb. We saw a white bat... More

My family and I had a fantastic hike with our guide Berny. We saw many birds with Berny's help. Lots of interesting facts were presented about the area we hiked through as well as other interesting facts about Costa Rica's flora and fauna. Berny is very knowledgeable and if he was unsure when answering any of questions he quickly found... More

We did the 7am hike with Bernie as our guide. He was very knowledgable and friendly. We had a total of 10 people on the hike. We were told it would be a max of 6-8 ppl, and would have enjoyed it a little more if it were that way (because the more people, the more noise, the less you... More
