...too touristy. Playa Tamarindo is a gorgeous beach - it is scenic and great for a long walk, especially at low tide. It is also a good swimming beach as the surf isn't too rough. However, if you are looking for a true Costa Rican...More

There were so many people trying to sell whistles. All over the place. It was a nice beach but this was really annoying. Also there were some shady characters at the entrance. Overall a pretty fun beach however

Overall great experience. Lots of vendors selling noisemakers, sunglasses, surf lessons, jewelry, and coconut water. Also a few unsavory types selling other wares.

Very clean beach, beach sellers were not aggressive at all, very pleasant to chat with and not offended if you did not purchase their wares.

Amazingly laid back beach, safe surf conditions for all skill levels of swimming and surfing. Wonderful food service all down the beach. Vendors and local ticos ready to serve and show you the sights.

Surfing in Tamarindo was awesome. Surfable waves for all levels all day long. High tide was best. The town had a cool vibe. Very nice people.

Great place to watch surfing or take lessons as the waves are perfect and not too big. You can rent chairs and umbrellas. Locals come along selling beer and coconut water. They also sell lots of other things and it can become annoying at times

If you use common traveler's sense, I'd say no. For instance, if you're at the beach, don't leave your items unattended. Keep your valuables in the lock box in your hotel room. If a local is randomly trying to engage you in... More
