Finally saw and heard wildlife along the canal. Heard howler monkeys, saw many birds, saw River people's life along the canal, and saw the confiscation lot of huge variety and amount of boats and engines taken from water drug trade crimes.

This was the highlight of our visit to Costa Rica. Our driver, Cardilo ( or something like that ) has got xray eyes, he spots everything! the canal is quite tranquil and peaceful but is teeming with wildlife. We saw many types of birds, Iguanas, Lizards, Jesus Christ Lizard, Caymen, Sloths, and many many monkeys all in their natural habitat.... More

The canal is an easy tour from the cruise port. Our trip was with Tortuguero Wildlife Tours and was a highlight of our cruise. There is a lot of different wildlife and birds and the area is quiet. Highly recommended.

Had a great tour on the canal and saw lots of wildlife up close..monkeys, sloths, large lizards. Guides are great at spotting them and getting the boat in close.

At first, the tour we took seemed to be just boating through any old canal anywhere, but it soon showed us the beauty of this canal. So much wildlife! Just make sure to wear your sunscreen and bring water!

After taking the bus from San Jose to Limon we missed the 10am daily departure to Tortuguero. Fortunately after some hard negotiating with the only canal boat in sight, our part of three took the four hour trip up the canal. What a mind blowing adventure, our captain truly excelled in showing us hidden wild life which included cayman, Jesus... More

We did this tour in both a bigger boat and a canoe and we loved it both days. Canoe is a bit more authentic though. Our guides : Alexis Torres and Pablo Zuñiga from Tortugo Tours treated us absolutelly excellent and explained to us so much about what Tortuguero has to offer. We saw a lot of birds : Tucan,... What should have taken an hour, took almost 2. If the water isn't igh enough, your're litterally up the creek without a paddle. Luckily all the guys on the boats, don't mind getting their feet wet and pushing the boat out through the shallow waters. Luckily the heavens opened and we were on our way.

We booked up to take the tour of the Tortuguero canals with Greenways Even before we boarded the boat we were able to see sleeping bats in the Palm near the canal, then we quickly saw howler Monkeys and a Sloth. Thereafter there were plenty of birds, Herons, a Green Kingfisher, Snowy Egret, common Black Kites, Spotted sandpiper and others.... More
