Awesome tour through the Mangrove before a tropical fruit break and then tracing along the gulf back to home base. Guide Alfredo (pretty sure, something with an A) went above & beyond in assisting our elder members with everything, and was just genuinely super nice & hospitable. During the break I even learned how to open a coconut with only... More

I've never kayaked but found this to be easy. Even our 10yr in a tandem kayak with another 10yr can do easily. To navigate through some of the mangrove can be tricky but our guide was there to talk us through it. Golfo Dulce was very calm so I was grateful not to get seasick, which happens easily for me.... I cannot speak highly enough about the sunset kayaking trip that ended with the most breathtaking bioluminescent experience! Our guide was so knowledgeable and made sure we experienced everything to the fullest. He even climbed a coconut tree and showed us how to open them and which ones were better for eating versus drinking. The tour starts with a paddle... More

The tour started at their home base, and we kayaked through narrow mangrove canals, and then through an inlet out into the gulf, and around and back, for a total of about three hours. All the staff members we met were very pleasant, particularly Laura who guided our group. It was a leisurely paddling, and we never felt rushed. We... More

I went for two kayaking-tours with Aventuras Tropicales and they where both amazing! The mangrove-tour was beautiful and pieceful and we where accompanied by a pelican that hang out with us! The ocean-kayaking tour with snorkeling was just as amazing, beautiful shoreline and great snorkling! The guides where really friendly and knowledgeable! They take really good care of you! I... great trip. Great guide. Saw lots of birds and crabs on mangroves. The warned us to apply sunscreen and even having been in Costa Rica before we thought we did but the water and limited cover we were burnt to a clips when we got back due to wind and reflections from water. Not that we were morons but instead... More

This was a solid 4 hour trip, half paddling up a river into the mangroves S of Puerto Jimenez, then crossing over to the Pacific for an open ocean paddle back to the bay. The mangrove swamp is impressive, rooty and with lots of birds, small crabs (hard to spot, they're very shy), few bugs in early January. At the... More

We had an awesome experience kayaking through the mangrove channels in the Gulfo Dulce next to Puerto Jiménez. Our guide was very knowledgeable about the different varieties of mangroves and the ecology of the mangrove biosystem. A highlight was stopping at a deserted beach to snack on fresh pineapple and coconut water. Highly recommend this outfitter if you're looking for... More

This tour was arranged for my wife and I by Lapa Rios resort. Our main objective was to see some wildlife in an unusual setting and it did not disappoint! Alberto and Donnie were our guides. They were friendly, patient, professional and easy to understand. The kayaks were in great shape and the weather was great. The tour was leisurely... More
