This visit was part of our group tour so our cost was $150/person for the boat ride there which was advertised more of a "dolphin boat ride" and the refuge was just an extra. We saw few dolphins so the boat tour was an expensive...More

The sanctuary does amazing work and Carol and her staff are the heart and soul. The sanctuary is an hour boat ride from Puerto Jimenez and is not far from the shore. The location itself is also stunning. Make sure to be on time!

I admire Carol for her devotion to these animals. The tour requires an hour ride via water taxi (boat) that is a bit costly. There are many rules regarding the visit that I was not aware of (no backpacks, no water bottles, things that you...More

Agree with earlier answer. Easy to walk in, brush off sand, and slip shoes back on. As the spider monkeys tend to greet you, though, make sure you have belongings secured while you work with shoes. Also... No water bottles... More
