It is no coincidence that the Arenal Volcano & Hot Springs is one of the most popular tours in the country; visiting the most active volcano in Costa Rica and relaxing in its hot springs is an unforgettable experience!En route towards Arenal, you will pass by the picturesque town of La Fortuna and, in a clear day, you will have the opportunity to admire this majestic colossus. You may also have the chance to witness a small eruption, causing red lava to pour down the mountain and clouds of smoke and ash to fly into the sky. At night, the spectacle is like a magnificent display of fireworks. At the nearby thermal hot springs you will be able to relax in naturally heated Jacuzzis charged with healthy minerals, or you may take advantage of the resort’s additional services such as Tabacón’s award winning spa.

A drive circa 3 - 31/2 hours each way and on route could have fewer stops as those stops were fair only; general group commentary was to get strait to the volcano / springs. The springs were exceptional and were the highlight of the day - the dinner at Tabacon was also also solid. So overall, great value for money.

We were staying close to el Centro in San Jose, so the drive to the volcano was about 2.5 to 3 hours. The actual volcano was visible from about half way down due to the could coverage. We went to a scenic look out area near by for photos. Our guide was happy to tell us as much as he... More

Gray Line Tours is one of the oldest tour companies in Costa Rica. It is part of the Marta Group which owns and operates several franchise hotel brands in Costa Rica. It s a good, solid firm with great service at reasonable prices.

Was a long day, but the hot springs were worth it in the end. The volcano area was nice, it was cloudy. Max the guide was very informative of the history and area, just wished he spoke more in English than Spanish, I am sure I missed a lot being said. I don't speak Spanish.

Where to begin? They picked us up on time at the hotel, but then it was another hour or so of other hotel pickups, transfer to a bigger van/bus, and more roadtripping before we were actually under way. The description of the trip is VERY poorly done, bordering on deceptive. Pick up was before 8AM, we didn't see the first... More

One of many natural places to visit while in CR, the night view (if not cloudy) is something you won't ever forget.

This is an incredible must do if you are heading to Costa Rica. It was the highlight of our trip. The Volcano is amazing, but our tour guide (Daniel) took us to a native farm where we learned about several of the local plants and food, we had an amazing meal there as well, we then headed to a local... Great day trip and friendly staff. Our guide even helped us - the airlines lost our luggage the night before and we hadn't had time to replace anything. We were going to miss the swimming portion of the trip (which would have been really disappointing for my son). Our guide was able to find us a shop that sold clothing... More
