There is a Starbucks and McDonalds and the employees speak English. This is where the Teatro National de Costa Rica is located and within a few blocks are museums and the central market.

The center of all that is San Jose. Several attractions, restaurants and shopping are within walking distance. People watching at it's finest!

This "plaza", which is really tiny, is located right outside of the national theater. Nice place to hang out for a while and take good pictures of the national theater.

Plaza de La Cultura is located directly beside Teatro Nacional. It is one of the must see centerpieces of the San José, Costa Rica central area. It is a great place to sit and relax and watch the world pass by in front of you....More

I guess only very few claim otherwise... but this square is not worth visiting. It's ugly, with lots of cement, very confusing walkways and guardrails, and just nothing to compensate for any of it. Lots of weird folks around the darker corners too.

Good place to take it easy and do a little learning of the local culture. Went on one of our lazy days where we did not fancy anything too frenetic.

This plaza in San Jose is full of people and there are many restaurants surrounding it so it makes for a good place to people watch.

Great place to visit - even if your time is limited. I got some exercise, checked out the local cultures - in the middle of a busy business trip

San Jose is just another large city without charm or a welcome feeling. Very run down streets and buildings. We didn't feel particularly welcome or safe, even during the day
