I enjoyed eating at the various restaurants and shopping with the local vendors. I spent a lot of time here during my vacation. It is centrally located and provides exposure to the local culture.

Best place in San Jose to buy beautiful souvenirs at a reasonable price. Found similar items at airport and other locations for twice the cost.

I try to visit markets wherever I go. And I love them. I was not disappointed by the Central Market in San Jose, too. It is a real place, not designed for tourists, with real sights, real things, real smells, which I did not find...More

Easily can be seen as messy but it's one if the truly authentic shopping areas of San Jose. This is an ideal place to purchase souvenirs and local food. Most of the merchants are open to negotiate their prices.

Because this is a very popular spot it is easier to take a bus or cab rather than find a spot to park. Make sure to take your time and be prepared to haggle with the dealers to get a better price. Pura Vida!
