Local Alaskan and Yukon art. Over 100 artist have work in our store. Haines residents Rod and Rhonda Hinson own and operate the store year round. Rod makes custom knives and also turns wood products like pens, stylus', seam rippers and cork screw/bottle stoppers. The best homemade fudge you've ever tasted and healing salves made from local plants. Plan on spending time looking around because every spot in the store is filled with great products.

My wife and I visited Haines as part of an Alaskan Dream Cruise. The town is absolutely full of history, and interesting people and places. Our time in Haines, and meeting a wonderful lady named Rhonda, only made us want to return....and the first place we will go is Alaska Rod's. What first attracted me there was the thought I... More

Nice selection of reasonably-priced art products, nearly all of which is from Alaska. I almost didn't go in because the name sounded like sporting goods, but I'm glad I did. Well, they do have hand crafted knives, but they also have ivory, wood, and jade carvings, paintings, jewelry, clothing accessories, prints and a broad selection overall.

This is an establishment we visit each time wee are in Haines (often more than once. The store is interesting, the owners are very friendly and kind. Go there to buy souvenirs and more unusual items. If you like knives, Rod makes his own, and they are pieces of art. Then there is the sinfully delicious homemade fudge, the popcorn,... More

Considering that Haines is not as big as Juneau or even Ketchikan, we were so surprised at the variety and quality of the merchandise at Alaska Rod's. Many beautiful custom items you can't get anywhere else. So many items sold at most of the Tourist shops have printed on them 'Alaska' but when you check carefully....they are imported from China!... You will always receive the personal touch here. I originally came through 3 years ago, while working in the Haines area. I make an annual visit, to check out the homemade cutlery, hand crafted by Rod himself. Last year I purchased a Chef's knife for a chef friend in Las Vegas. He loves the knife so much, it doesn't leave... More

One of the owners helped us the day we were there. She was very patient and provided a lot of information about the items for sale. We were so impressed we went back the next day and spent some more money. They have a Facebook page which I liked, and they post some great pictures of the area around Haines... More

When traveling to Haines, a visit to Alaska Rod's is a must! The store is jam packed with a variety of goods including souvenirs, knives, and some of the best tasting fudge ever! I actually visited twice - once when a lot of people were in the store, and later, when the crowds had died down, I had a second... More
