Since 2003, Galley Gourmet's signature dinner cruises have been a highlight event for visitors and locals alike. Our dinner cruises are much more than a meal aboard a boat. They are a wildlife tour as well, making them one of the most popular ways to experience Kodiak.

Kodiak is home to sea lions, puffins, sea otters, beautiful wildflowers and whales. Every stretch of water and shoreline is a treat to the senses. As one happy customer said, "The Sea Breeze is Alaska at its best!"

At-a-glance tips and highlights:

The Sea Breeze ties up in Slip B-3 in the downtown boat harbor

Reservations are required

Guests should meet the at the boat at 6 PM

Time: We depart soon after 6 PM and return around 9:30 PM

Dress code: Wear comfortable shoes; bring a jacket, hat, camera, batteries, etc.

Alcohol: Our dinners are BYOB (Kodiak has a great selection of wine, beer, etc.)

We can accommodate special dietary needs.

Cost: $175 (2017 pricing) per person for the 3.5-hour cruise (does not include tax or tip). Special rates are extended for active military.

Dinner cruises last about 3.5 hours and you're special guests of hosts Marion and Marty Owen on the Sea Breeze, a classic 42-foot yacht. After leaving the dock, Marty navigates around scenic islands and passages. While nibbling on tasty appetizers, you'll notice many opportunities to bring back beautiful pictures. Marion is a professional photographer and is happy to help you get great photos.

Marty knows a lot about the ocean. He recently retired from his harbormaster duties and his family roots go back to the 1930's when his family settled on Kodiak Island--which means he has lots of fun stories to tell.

The ocean air gives you a healthy appetite. From local seafood and fresh, organic salad greens (Marion is a master gardener and co-author of Chicken Soup for the Gardener's Soul) to the scrumptious dessert, you'll discover why it's called "Galley Gourmet, a feast underway!"

Marty and Marion hosted one of our most enjoyable evenings ever! Marty cruised his beautiful boat through the Kodiak waters pointing out the plethora of animals, birds and SPECTACULAR views. Then he docked in a small bay and served Marion's gourmet creations. The dips, salads and dinner were fresh from her master garden and the local scallop boat. The rhubarb... More

Marion and Marty do a great job of providing a tour of the harbor, pointing out the sea life- sea lions, eagles, otter etc. and then having a delicious meal aboard their boat featuring a lot of local ingredients and thing from their garden. Delightful evening from 6 to 9 with a maximum of 6 people

Unfortunately we weren't able to go out on a Galley Gourmet dinner cruise but we did stay with Marty and Marion at their B&B (Cliff House). It was a truly great experience. We were delayed due to weather on Kodiak and needed a place to stay. We saw Marion's artwork at Java Flats and called her. They took us in... More

Be sure to try to include this activity on your schedule. It's well worth the modest price for an enjoyable evening in the beautiful setting of Kodiak Bay. The meal was truly gourmet and it was served quite professionally in a relaxed atmosphere.

Delicious dinner and breath taking views around Kodiak. Saw some Puffins, sea lions, sea otters, and poor boat shipwrecked....the dinner was fantastic! Pesto Sockeye Salmon with roasted potatoes and a yummy dessert!

Marty and Marion are great, knowledgeable hosts. They do a great tour and the food is very tasty. A lot of time and attention goes into all the details. Great wildlife opportunities and if the weather cooperates, you are in for an amazing time! They also do weddings and celebrations - and do an amazing job. Definitely worth the money... More

This is a bit pricey but well worth the expense. It is a cozy cruise around the area. You will see harbor seals, puffins, oyster catchers, eagles as well as sea otters. To start your evening, you will be introduced to the animals you will likely see. In addition, Marion will delight your senses with some mouth watering appetizers. Our... More

On a chilly gray day, we tendered ashore from a cruise ship to take a cruise around the harbor with Marty and Mario (not the gourmet dinner they also offer, but this was the only place tripadvisor would let me review them). What a great experience we had! Their yacht was charming, filled with good smells (from coffee and freshly... More

You will find this event a very relaxed but pleasurable experience. Marty and Marion are excellent at educating you on the area, wildlife, and of course providing an excellent meal. The small group experience is great. Both have a wealth of experience on the area, with Marty being a native of Kodiak. Boat is excellent and the tour of the... More

Marty is the past harbor master of Kodiak. Marion is a columnist in the local paper and a photographer/cook/gardener extraordinaire. As a team they are hard to beat. We had booked a day trip with them to Long Island, site of a WWII fort during the war with plenty of structures still to be viewed. (Marty had played here as... More
