Onion dome church without a trip to Moscow

I did not go inside as services or late hours prohibited me. You can get great photos even with a cell phone. Be sure to continue up Mission Rd to the Ortodox Seminary.

We noticed the blue spiral steeples from our hotel room and went wandering off in the rain to find the source. What a beautiful surprise this was

Not able to go inside as entrance is restricted. Behind the church is the main fuel storage depot for the harbor and so very limiting of photographs.

The Holy Resurrection Russian Orthodox Church is easily within walking distance and well worth the walk. The inside of the church has many religious icons and beautiful paintings. The priests were so willing to talk to us and tell us the history of the church. It is a beautiful example of a Russian Orthodox Church and a not-to-be missed place... More

Great maintained church close to the harbor in a kind of residential and industrial area. Spectacular building with amazing artifacts. Don't miss while visiting Kodiak

This beautiful church, steeped in history going all the way back to the Russian Orthodox missionary monks coming to Kodiak in 1794, is especially blessed to house the relics of St. Herman, the patron saint of Kodiak Island and neighboring Spruce Island where he cared for orphans, spending his last years there. The priest of Holy Resurrection Cathedral, Fr. Innocent... More

While everything in this delightful small church feels new, there is a sense of history that carries you back in time. If you have time attend a service, or at least part of one. You will get the feel of an American Russian heritage!

Worth visiting, historical property. Nicely maintained. Open to the public, more information available - a self guided tour.

This building has been re-built (as the original structure was destroyed in a fire decades ago) and is being actively used by Kodiak's large Russian Orthodox citizenry. (Bells from the former church were salvaged & displayed outside.) An important part of the island's history, indeed... Enjoy :)

We sailed into Kodiak and I took our guests on a walking tour of the town. I wanted them to experience the rich history of the town that suffered in an a great Alaskan earthquake with how the resolve of the town took care of each other and beauty of this church. Although their is not an admission to this... More
