From the outset, the team proved to be professional, friendly and organised. The bikes were well maintained, the route was varied and absolutely stunning in terms of scenery. The accommodation and food was fabulous. Made to feel welcome at every stage of the journey. Sue checked our bikes en route and we were tracked for safety. Throughout the trail we... More

Mike really goes out of his way to customise and design the trip that works best for you and your family. His ability to work with accommodation providers meant we got brilliant weather. Jo who does the logistics know her stuff and is super helpful and full of knowledge. There bike hire gear is top quality. Worth using and just... More

We arrived on the day before we were supposed to start our ride and because of weather limitations on the mountains, Mountain Bike Station staff provided bikes that day so that we could complete all sections of the Mountains to Sea Trail in spite of the weather. Staff also provided coffee and cake at the information session, and kept us... More

This is a fabulously diverse 5 day trail, on-road and mountain biking through very remote areas and even some kayaking down the Whanganui River. Jo and Mike at Mountain Bike Station developed our itinerary, arranged our accommodation and transported our gear each day. They were great to deal with, responsive to weather conditions, pro-actively re-jigging the itinerary to give us... More

We were a group of 4 women who had limited mountain bike experience - apart from the rain and Mud changing our plans - we had a fabulous time - would recommend Jane and Darren to everyone - they were just so friendly - nothing was too much trouble. So keen I'd go again and hope to actually get to... More

As a family of 5 (kids of 14, 12 and 10) with no mountain bike experience we really enjoyed this trip. We hired bikes at TCB and they also arranged to drop us and the bikes at the top of the track. This provides for a net descent back into Ohakune. There still some steep climbs included en route but... More

Two families of 8 with four teens set off and went from Horopito back to Ohakune which is more downhill than the other way. Recommend that direction. Some of the climbs are a workout but with some moderate fitness or willingness to walk you can do this. Bikes were good quality with many brand new. Brakes and gears worked well.... More

Family of four (mum, dad and 18, 20 year old boys) mum definitely the novice but of good fitness level. Hired bikes from Mountain bike station, which were good quality, with helmet and gloves. Bumpy ride, good level of hard and flat parts, lots of bumps... but fabulous scenery and lots of history as well. Well worth being transported from... More
