This is an interesting museum in a rural town that has a collection of military and commercial aircraft. Visitors are free to wander amongst the aircraft and look into the cockpits of most of the exhibits. The Harrier jet is an excellent exhibit, we do not see these closeup elsewhere in NZ. The restorers/guides are very friendly and are happy... More

Visited on impulse due to inclement weather preventing us from doing what we had originally planned in Ashburton. Warm greeting on arrival and paid the $10 each admission which was very reasonable. There are several aircraft on display, with their stories displayed beside each one. The range of planes varied from military to helicopters, from civilian to topdressers to gliders... More

If you or the kids are bored by SH1 this a good stop a couple of km off the highway. First impressions are that it will be a bit rustic but then you are the Harrier jump jet that they purchased from the RAF! The museum is open every afternoon and features many of the aircraft flown by the RNZAF.... More

We had a job finding this museum but so glad we did. We were lucky enough to meet a very knowledgeable man ( I think he may have been the ex president of the club) who's tales about different exhibits were both touching and amazing. To be able to climb up level with the cockpits of some of these planes... More

What a great museum. The stories of those brave pilots who risked their lives so we could live as we do today. The hard work and dedication from the people who put the museum and the planes together has paid off. Very interesting and informative. Well worth a visit.

Not brilliantly marked off the main road but what a find when one gets there. Two wonderful volunteers entertained us for two hours showing us around this famous and historic museum full of vintage and interesting aircraft. A really wonderful visit and highly recommended - thank you

This museum is well laid out with plenty of interesting information. We had a guided tour for our group which was good. A group of keen enthusiasts keep things in great order and are very knowledgeable.
