Went here during a tour to visit some really neat ruins, which are up for review to become a UNESCO heritage site. Beautiful hike through the jungle, with the tour guide who owns the property!

Lelu Ruins is such a wonder...however, it has not been "treasured" well by the people living near the place....an Ace Department Store was built right in front of it making the ruins less important.... sad to see how beautiful it is but not well taken cared of....

I wish I had read these reviews before we went to Kosrae. We went to see the Lelu Ruins on our own. We did not have a map or a guide. It would have been much more interesting if we knew what we were looking at! But the remains of the walls and structures made from columnar basalt are quite... More

The island is based around a number of villages, some of which can trace their roots back a few thousand years to some impressive ruins. Our guides explained what the different structures were believed to be - and the vibrant culture that was started there.

We had a tour with Adam, a local archaeologist. This is a fascinating place with burial chambers, ceremonial rooms, even a canal!

A very small island connected to the main island by a causeway. It is a nice place to stroll and mingle with the locals. The Lelu ruins are located here. It is a fantastic spot to visit and very easy get to.

Kosrae is an amazing island to visit and Lelu Island is a must. From the Lelu ruins to the view of the sleeping lady at sunset it cannot be beat

Nice area to explore. Lelu Ruins is very interesting to explore and there are a couple of geocaches here, too!

Lelu Island is a tiny island you can reach from the main island via a causeway. The first missionaries had a house there (land given by the king--1852) and three pine trees planted by the missionary still stand on the spit of land where the house was. Go with a guide to the ruins who can be sure you see... More
