It is a rather small site, but very atmospheric. Mostly you have the ruins and its legends and curses completely to yourself. If you are into temples, this is a place to go to.

Best viewed from a boat trip organized by Pohnpei Surf Club or other outfitter. I tried to do it myself from the road and it was not easily identifiable. Ruins are fascinating and beautiful, especially the 12 ft high corners.

I guess everyone who reads the guidebooks and online resources but it is a cool set of ruins. And impressive given the limited technology and number of people available at the time. It is a great way to spend a day while in Pohnpei.

Nan Madol is a magical abandoned city built on 15 artificial islands. It is extremely impressive and it is the last thing you expect to find in laid back pohnpei. There is a 1+3+3 dollar fees to get there. While there visit the nearby falls...More

I’ve been around the world. But Nan Madol is one of the most unique magical places to behold. It is like walking into a tropical time machine. Breathtaking. To imagine how this island city was built by so ancient a people is mind boggling. Highly...More
