Our party of 5 had no kayaking experience but this posed no problem. We Kayaked in the rain but we were provided with all the gear necessary and stayed nice and dry. Our guide Ashley was great. She instructed us in technique and was very knowledgeable in regards to our surroundings, whether it was wildlife, vegetation or beautiful Alaska. We... More

This is a great lake for kayaking for all ages, especially if you don't have much previous experience in a kayak. We booked with Denali Southside guides outside of our land tour and they picked us up promptly at McKinley Princess Lodge. It was raining, and we were prepared, but once we got to the lake we were offered better... More

We kayaked & rafted. Simon & Murph were interesting, patient, professional, knowledgeable and friendly.Saw moose. Ate a delicious lunch. They had great rain gear & although it rained for part of our trip, the weather changes quickly up here & we saw lots of sun too. Simon did a great job taking pictures for us on my phone. Very relaxing... More

We did the Byers lake kayak trip and had a wonderful time. Our guide - Nate- was great. The scenery was beautiful. We had an amazing view of the mountain- which is rare and got some great photos of the mountain over the lake. On the water there was not a problem with bugs. You generally have your choice of... We took this excursion from the Mt McKinley Process Lodge. It was just a short bus ride to the lake. Dry bags, waterproof pants and crocs were provided. We had a beautiful day for kayaking around the lake. We were a small group of 3 so our guide was able to answer all our questions. He was very knowledgeable and... More

We were a bit dubious about this trip because the weather wasn't great when we arrived in Mt McKinley. We decided to swap our morning kayak trip for the afternoon before and that proved a wise decision as the afternoon weather was good, no rain at least. We were picked up from the Princess lodge and driven to Byers Lake... More

While we were in Alaska we were looking for a kayak trip that would be fun for my sister but easy for my mom. I came across the Denali Southside River Guides and their trip at Byers Lake in Denali State Park. We had a wonderful time. Simon was a great guide and really knew about the area. He shared... More

My family and I did the kayak and float trip with Southside river guides last week and it was incredible. Our day started with an on time pickup at our lodge, courteous and fun driver who was very knowledgeable. We were driven to Byers lake where they had a small trailer with all the gear that was necessary. We were... More

This trip was one of the best and most memorable days one can experience on vacation. The guide team Craig, Simon and Jake were knowledgable, fun and just awesome guys. The kayaking 30 miles from MT Denali and then the rafting trip back provided views that will be remembered for ever. This trip was worth every penny. Lunch was provided... More

My son and I had a really wonderful experience kayaking around Byers Lake. The guides were really nice, and very informative. It was a very calm day on the lake, with approximately 1 -2 hours of kayaking - could be a little strenuous when paddling back into the wind. While we didn't see any bears - there were trumpeter swans... More
