If you are reading this, you already know you want to go there. Probably to see the big things. Mainly sharks. But, apart from this, Elphinstone is a beautiful reef. You will be engulfed in fish of any colour, millions of them. And the soft corals are second to none. When we dived this spot in April, we did not... More

Can never tell until under the water if currents are strong. Many people dive here for sharks but the reef is beautiful, many waste time at 30 metres when there is so much to see at 15 - 20 metres. Can get very crowded as can be reached from shore by ribs and day boats. Ribs can be a pain... More

most beautiful and pristine reef I've seen, even if there are no big fish / marine life - the reef will still take your breath away. Tricky currents - I would say divers should have at least 60dives 10 of which being drift & every diver should take an dsmb and reel.

Dive here late August 2016, We did the dive from a Zodiac which enabled us to go early and not waste a full day away from the family. As we approached the dive site there were sharks on the surface so we did a negative entry into the water. The current was strong so we stayed on the near side... More

Advanced open water divers only are aloud to attend the reef. No snorkelling as it's open sea. We planned to meet there sharks but weren't lucky, it was probably too cold in January 2017. We've seen a colourful 1.5m Napoleon. There also an underwater arch with a strong current in it. You can find many videos in internet about Elphinstone... More

Elphinstone is the reef any diver should see when visiting Marsa Alam. It is one of most popular diving spots of Red Sea to explore when being in Egypt. It can be reached by the boat or zodiac. It is popular site on the route of safari boats. We saw there white tips, beautiful soft corals, gorgonias, tunas, jackfish, napoleons,... More

Yes Elphinstone reef is rated up there in the top ten dive sites in the world! The reason is that it is so rich in life. The reef runs from north to south in the middle of the Red Sea and gets so much sun all year round in these warm waters, and with currents running along its length, all... More

the best reef around Marsa ala area. this time we swan 10 min with a giant oceanic white tip shark. But please go there with a big boat , not with one of the companies which go on open sea with small rib boats
