If you have the chance to meet the hostess of the museum, Diane, you will be talking to the encyclopedia of the Iditarod and the history on the mushers. Then, a visit to the Iditarod museum is a must.

We came out to the museum and watched Martin Buser get inducted into the hall of fame. It was a great picnic and all the activities were great.

Knik was before Anchorage, and also home to Iditarod mushers museum upstairs and in the bar. Our little curator there told us so much about the history of the town and had pictures , it was great a tiny space packed with so much history...More

one of the hidden jewels of the valley! loaded with history, stories, and dog stuff! diane loves her job and is loaded with stories of the historical settlement. wonderful pictures and dog artifacts.

What I enjoyed was seeing the history of the Idiatirod through the mushers and the actual track. Diane was there and she had such fulfilling stories. Her educated and funny was to relive those years gone by. It is a bit out of Wasilla-it is...More

located at the original site of the village of Knik, the museum provides the visitor with many artifacts from the early days of the community. Additionally you can see the history of the Iditarod Sled Dog Race in Alaska.
