What is The Thing? Come and see for yourself. It is 17 miles east of Benson and about 40 miles east of Tucson on Interstate 10 (Exit 322). Look around the spacious gift shop and purchase a few gifts, a couple of pieces of Indian Handmade or gold jewelry, some pottery, or one of the many other items available at this location. Do your shopping before you tour the museum and look for, The Thing . Because afterwards you will probably want to compose yourself and just sit awhile sipping a cold soda or try to calm your nerves by scarfing up an Ultimate Burger or shoveling down a cold DQ Blizzard at the Dairy Queen located right next door. This location also offers self-serve Shell fuel with 24 hr. pay at the pump service. Are you in the need of Diesel? Get it here!

It costs $1 you see some really interesting items that someone has collected and of course get to view the Thing...definitely worth it for $1...shop attached has some really nice things and there's gas and a Dairy Queen attached...worth the stop...we enjoyed our time here.

Very friendly and a lot of reasonably priced tchotchkes. The DQ there is clean, quick and has a full grill. They are military friendly and offer a discount. As for the "Thing", I won't reveal what it is, but for a buck it's worth checking out the old cars and other such things on exhibit on the way to the... More

The thing is a kitschy price of Americana. You must see it once. The store also has a huge selection of souvenirs.

Yes, it's a "tourist trap," no, it PROBABLY isnt real, but it's worth a dollar a head for the comedic value alone. The reviews are right, high gas prices, for no reason really, with the gift shop which is awesome, DQ which has blizzards, and THE THING?! you'd think they brought in enough money. The Thing tour is truly odd...... More

Been taking folks here since the sixties. Classic roadside America. If passing by worth the stop . Not a go to destination. Quaint. Cheap.

I frequently saw a sign for The Thing when driving from Phoenix to Tucson and was always curious to see what it was. Finally stopped by when my fiancee and I were exploring the area. It is $1/person to get in and it is fun for a quick road stop. I wouldn't say it should be your main destination if... More

There are huge billboard beside the highway for miles before you get there. The don't lie but they insinuate something very special. Can you say "Tourist Trap" ? They want you to buy gas and/or cheap souvenirs. To me it's a dirty trick, very disappointing and for that I'll buy my gas in Wilcox or Benson,

Actually 20 miles past Benson, so dont go there unless youre traveling that route. Gift shop was great with very good prices. Dairy Queen was dirty.

Only $1 American to see The Thing?! Wow, I thought I’d need to pay at least $5 to see The Thing?! This roadside attraction is exciting. The Thing? is mysterious, it’s exciting, it’s in Arizona! See The Thing?!

This place is a way overpriced Dairy Queen. Nothing special same stuff as you can get at every other one for 2 X the price. The THING is a curiosity trap geared to kids to get them to pester you into stoping. If you do expect to drop quite a few green. Take my advice keep dive, be the parent.

Thank Chuck B
