Pretty cool to find a huge sundial as a historical landmark in the center of a small and lazy desert town. A drive through the authentic western towns of Carefree and Cave Creek was nice for a sightseeing afternoon.
Carefree is the sort of place that just makes you smile....the sundial and town center area is beyond charming. Water fall, strolling, lizard playground, delicious little dining options and for smiles sake.....English High tea......

Carefree was once the old-money retirement village with lots of quaint shops and good restaurants. My recent visit showed a decaying and lonely city center that is slowly slipping away, which is a pity since it is such a lovely location.
