Whirlwind Golf Club is truly a unique southwest golf experience. The courses, clubhouse, and practice facilities are sensitively designed to preserve the rich cultural heritage of the Gila River Indian Community.

Named for the prominent design feature of the hand-woven basketry of the Authum tribe, Whirlwind is the work of golf course architect Gary Panks. His design weaves the spirit and legacy of this ancient land into a

marvelous test of golf.

The Devil's Claw course features sweeping elevation changes and dramatic

bunkering. The Cattail course complements the Devil's Claw, but lends a whole new flavor to this 36-hole masterpiece, with its rolling fairways accented by striking water features and deep canyons.

Whirlwind promises a dynamic golf experience marked by spectacular landscaping, unrivaled course conditions, and genuine customer service.

Nice golf courses

Played the Cattail course and it was in very good condition. Greens were good but not fast by any means. Wide open fairways. Played silver tees at 6300 yards but gold and black... read more

The clever names for its two 18 hole circuits are meaningless- though typically in good condition- its little more than an average links style course with a nice clubhouse and driving range. Most of the holes are plain and unremarkable, there is only water on a few of them. The entirely flat layout goes back and forth repeatedly, with about... More

I have played several Scottsdale courses through the years and I probably would not put this in my top 10. The courses are in great shape and the staff is great but I don't think the courses have a lot of character. Many of the holes are the same.

Played the Cattail course and it was in very good condition. Greens were good but not fast by any means. Wide open fairways. Played silver tees at 6300 yards but gold and black tees play longer. Two shorter sets of tees also available. Nice clubhouse and pro shop

I have reviewed this complex before, but felt compelled to do it again after just being there a week ago. Had a couple of large customers out for a golf weekend and scheduled both 18s at Whirlwind for a long day of golf. We showed up at 7 that morning and teed it up at 8:30 on Cattail, then stopped... Played: November 29, 2016 My wife and I were in Arizona, visiting for a week from Ontario, Canada to play some golf. I researched many of the courses in Arizona (Phoenix area) and landed on Whirlwind as one of the choices. We were not disappointed. 18 holes, cart included, in the afternoon cost us $100us each. Well worth it. What... More

Today we enjoyed a wonderful golf experience. Checking in, we enjoyed a beautiful pro shop and friendly staff. The course was in great shape and very challenging (meaning a high score). :) My wife forgot her hand bag in the shop and the Ranger delivered it to her with all items and cash still in. There was a charity hole... More

Nice course!!! Showed up at 4pm and the course was wide open. The staff was very freindly. Didn't look around too much because I wanted to head out to the first tee right away. It looks like there is a bar next to the golf shop. Didn't order food there. The course was in very good shape, especially at this... More

I've played both Cattail and Devils Claw and they are average and over priced golf courses for the area. You'll do much better driving 20 minutes east to Ak-Chin Souther Dunes in Maracopa or north-west to Ocotillo in Chandler. The former of which is a phenomenal course and well worth the extra 20 minute drive. If you're looking for a... More

Played the Devil's Claw course and had a great time. The course is in amazing condition from tee to green. Got a GolfNow deal for $45 and it was the best value course for the money I've ever played. Mostly wide open fairways and lots of desertscape. A couple of really interesting layout holes to add variety. Lots of little... More

Our foursome played Cattails and enjoyed the experience. It was of average difficulty but spectacular beauty. We enjoyed the expertly groomed fairways and greens. It was a fun place to play. It's busy, so you'll likely wait a bit in season at each tee box. We will definitely return.
