We stopped first at Lightning Ridge, and it was frankly downhill from there in Elgin-Sonoita. This is a small winery, friendly and not crowded. We were delightfully surprised at how good all of the wines were, from the unique Incanto Rose (sort of an amber color), which was made from locally grown grapes, to the many Italian style wines mostly... My daughter lives in Elgin and we visited for several days on my birthday. We started at the Lightning Ridge Cellars and their selection of wines was very, very good. It gave us a good start for comparison. A good selection of reds and whites. While dry were still very good.

Lightning Ridge Cellars is a perfect example of the best wines Arizona has to offer. Owners Ann and Ron Roncone established the winery in 2005 and their love for, and dedication to, making fine wines is abundantly evident. Ron served me some of the best Italian varietal wine I have had in our country. They do one thing differently than... More

Stopped in last Sunday. Good wines and the guy pouring, assumed to be the owner, was absolutely great. Conversation, explained their products, some interesting tips on Sonoita area wines. When we pulled in he was headed out to gather samples for testing but made the trek back to the tasting room. This is a must see / stop when in... More

Lightning Ridge was recommended by several people, so we thought we would stop and do a tasting. Glad we did. We selected three wines for shipping back home and look forward to drinking them in the future.

This was our last stop and a perfect ending to a day of wine tasting in Elgin. Loved the art in their tasting room, and it was on par with quaint tasting rooms with a tuscan flare that I've liked in other regions. There's a Bocce ball court outside and a very pleasant host inside. Loved their Montepulciano and at... More

We were met by Ron, an owner. He was very friendly, knowledgable and accommodating. The vineyard and tasting room were in a beautiful location! We loved seeing his Great Dane and having fudge with the dessert wine. I bought a bottle of the Petite Verdot and a bottle of the dessert wine. I am not a big fan of dessert... More

We always leave with a good red and dessert wine. A nice small family run operation that always provide time to interact. Great wine!

Of all of the wineries we visited, this one has the absolute best views. Just look out the tasting room windows the mountains and sky and clouds-so peaceful and beautiful! Very nice tasting room, decent wines, but none that caught my attention and that wanted to come home with me. Our server was decent, but not overly helpful nor talkative.... More
