We looked into the tours of Jerome, but they didn't get good reviews. We ended up driving to Jerome and walking around, and drove to what we couldn't walk to. Go to the 1918 Liberty Theatre and Gifts. They have some cool gifts and souvenirs....More

I have visited this town often, finding new things to visit and do each time. I think it is important historical things are still visible so we can see exactly how things were. Those were rough days. If the town ever is able to renovate...More

Not much to see. Like everything else in Jerome it is a short steep walk to get there. The history of this small jail sliding down the hill is probably unique in America, Good story.

You will probably have to ask somebody where it is, since you can't easily see it from the main part of town. It's a hike down some wicked steps to get there, and yes, it is beside the basketball court. The jail slid to it's...More

Always worth a visit… We’ve been through here several times in the past on our travels and for us coming from the UK it seems a bit like a visit to perhaps one of our older and quaint seaside resorts, a bit of history with...More

Crazy history on how this building has relocated itself after land slippage due to the copper mining here. Everything here is walkable and so much history to experience in this town.

This was a stop on our haunted tour and had we not been on a tour we might not have found it without some serious looking because it has slide down the hill by the basketball courts! You have to go take a look but...More

In the hayday of the mining times, the mine owners wanting more money, didn't care where they blasted, they wanted copper. There were a couple of landslides due to the mountain crubling in on its self. This jail was the only building to survive the...More

The story behind this sliding jail was interesting and funny. Apparently there was a giant explosion that blew up half the town and the jail landed in the middle of the road. It stayed there for years then the hippies came to town on 1960...More

It's a pretty much a small concrete building that's crumbling. A little hard to find. No signs to point it out until you get there. It's sort of down a hill next to a parking lot. Wasn't too impressed. Didn't even take a pic.
