Thought I would see some of the relics from the history of Jerome. Since I am fascinated with geology, I thought a trip to see a still standing head-frame from a cooper mine would be cool. The shaft located on this spot was erected in...More

We were driving around Jerome and stumbled upon the mine shaft. It's free to get in and not large but definitely worth the time to walk around and see what is there. All the old equipment, the entry to the shaft (everything is VERY safe),...More

There aren't many places where you can stand on a mine shaft. Informative stop that won't take long.

As if time stood still, fun little park with lots of local history and mining. Great education lesson for kids of all ages. We will be back soon.

There's nothing quite like standing over a hole that is about %150 the height of the Empire State Building as you find out that very statistic. It's hard to imagine taking a rickety elevator down that far into the ground - and spending your days...More
