With terrible parking limitations and higher than average motor-vehicle related crime rates, this once idyllic suburb has become a real dump, because of overcrowding, crime and decay

Wanted to experience the container shopping layout ! Nice shops, food etc.... Must maintain the level in case some of the places close. Parking a bit dodgy and security not always around.

Melville was a great find after the predictability of Sandton's shopping malls. It is a strip shopping mix of cafes and boutique retailers. There is a new retail site (27 Boxes) built from shipping containers which is architecturally interesting. Great if you love Opp shops,...More

Melville is the home of artists. It is the location of many restaurants and bars, which are mostly frequented by students from the nearby University of Johannesburg

I visited the place on a business trip. Melville has a good atmosphere & great food. The restaurants are quite unique but Melville needs some improvements

My husband and I stayed in Melville in a B & B Lucky Bean and we were most satisfied. Even though it is not a hotel, we would highly recommend this B & B. Transportation was easy with tuk tuk to visit around.
