This is a super area to walk around and visit the various shops on the street. A very safe area to walk around (though perhaps not after dark) Great restaurants along the strip. Highly recommended.

I used to go Melville a lot at the end of the 90s, and it went into a downward trend at the end of the decade, lots of drugs and fights, didn't feel at all safe. Now though ( for the past couple of years...More

We stayed in a guesthouse in the neighbourhood for a couple of nights a had a wonderful time here. Several nice places to go for a drink, good restaurants with value-for-money around the corner and some nice shops, especially in the Boxes area.

Melville has become quiet trendy over the years but it is looking a bit tired now and the pavements are a mess. There are a cluster of restaurants, cafes, bars and shops in this small suburb of Johannesburg. Parking is an issue so be warned....More

My husband and I stayed in Melville in a B & B Lucky Bean and we were most satisfied. Even though it is not a hotel, we would highly recommend this B & B. Transportation was easy with tuk tuk to visit around.
