This is one of the most elaborate museum with world war 1 and 2 marvels. A must visit for families and kids. The display is extremely creative, the structure immaculate and with the best management.

Unexpected find in the middle of Johanesburg - I was impressed with both the range exposition and authentic pieces of WW2 era. I've been to a number of WW2 around the world but it was the only place that had an impressive collection of Germany's "vengeance" weaponry including the first jet plane, illusive The Messerschmitt Me 262 and one of... A small very well kept museum in a beautiful open garden setting. It contains a selection of old photographs, war medals, photographs, field guns, tanks, howitzers and planes. Snacks and coffee can be purchased at the small coffee shop. There wasn't time to visit the library of SA military history, located at the same venue.

A comprehensive compilation of people, arsenal and stories from the World War 2. The exhibits are very well arranged and maintained. I found the displays of ancient fighter jets and planes were very fascinating.

Took my Grandson to visit the Museum and was an absolute first class experience for both of us. The facility is immaculately maintained and whilst there is general historical military interest it proved to be a fun outing for an exuberant two year old. My only suggestion in the absence of any cafe or coffee shop is to install vending... More

This adjoins the JHB Zoo and a facility maintained by very dedicated people preserving the history of those that committed to serving their country from whatever side. Well laid out and follows time with a fantastic dedication the Boer War, Jan Smuts, 61 Mech, 32 Battalion and all the wars fought in by SA. The G5 and G6 are impressive... More

The museum is kept in absolute pristine condition. There are many displays which are unique in the world, having the only example of a twin seat ME 262 in the world as well as many others. The displays are changed regularly and therefore repeat visits are only a pleasure. Among the current displays are a ME 109, FW 90, Mosquito,... More

My grandfather first took me to the "War Museum" when I was about 10-12 years old. That was back in 1952, bless his soul. It has fascinated me ever since, and despite a gap of some fifty years I was delighted to find that it had not lost any of its magic and fascination. In fact it has grown to... More
