In the space of just a few blocks, you feel as though you have temporarily left Johannesburg. There are a few shops, but mostly it is fresh produce markets and restaurants. It's a very interesting space to explore.

In the mornings the smells of rotten fish can be overwhelming down the sidewalks. You can also see the dirt. By night, the smells seem to disappear & the darkness hides the filth. The food can be really good, although at times there is no...More

If you have time to walk around many stores and shop for making junk but some good quality items then this is worth a day visit.

Chinatown is worth a visit if you need to stock up on Chinese food ingredients, including Chinese vegetables (and electronics and DVD's). There are a range of good Chinese restaurants as well.

First had difficulty in finding the right place. But was amazed at the array of shops. Catering for every possible customer at very low, cheap, competetive prices. Definitely worth the trip, but one word of caution. Rather leave your credit card at home.
