A fun filled guided tour through an interactive multi-media museum, exploring the rich history of beer and its South African story. End off with a cold pint in the Tap Room overlooking the city.

The immersive tour explores the rich history of Africa's beer culture, transporting you from the tombs of Egypt to the mining townships of Johannesburg's pioneer days. You'll also get to taste traditional African beer, hold hop flowers in your hands, smell the different types of barley and peer into the great big wort kettle!

Beer memorabilia and merchandise are also available at the adjoining shop, Tankards and Togs.

Since being opened by former President Nelson Mandela nearly 20 years ago, the World of Beer has become one of the country's top attractions for foreigners and locals alike, winning SA Tourism's "Tourist Attraction Category Winner" for three consecutive years.

It also houses a five-star conference and event venue.

I took an small group of visitors to South Africa to visit SAB World of Beer. We all found it an interesting tour that illustrated the life of beer right from the growing of the hops onwards. I found the way this was shown extremely well done. The tour also allowed one to sample the beer which was served in... More

Ntokozo, I hope you are reading this from World of Beer. I have a slightly hazy recollection of a highly educational and thoroughly entertaining beer tasting tutorial. This memory is corroborated by a fantastic photo of my husband and you that we recently discovered on our cell phone....Thank you for a lovely time and best regards from Minnesota! TA readers... This tour is over-the-top! The staff are wonderful, the exhibits are quite elaborate and the pours are generous. What else would you want to do before a 15-hour flight?

Our tour guide was amazing! You could ask her anything about beer and the history of beer and she knew it. I would highly recommend visiting the brewery when you are in Newtown. It's worth every penny!

Along the way, you can taste the hopsand barley in it's unprocessed form (It's bitter). When you are done, you get to go to the cafe, and use your voucjers for free beer. Your soviner... More
