If you stay at the African Pride Melrose Arch, request driver/guide Kaybee. He was really good. He was very knowledgeable about the area. Even took an excursion for us to get bunny chow in his hood. He then swung us by Mandela's residence and pointed...More

I'd say visiting Soweto townships is a must do when touring South Africa and Johannesburg. just to see how these proud people live -many in poverty is a sight to see. Many do not have electricity nor mains water and although many are unemployed, those...More

Get to Soweto as much as you can, but please don't treat it as a museum. Soweto has so many different parts that are worth visiting. Start at Vilakazi street and go to the Hector Pieterson museum.

I have rated this as excellent because I think it something that visitors to South Africa should see. It is extreme poverty that tends to get hidden if your only visiting for a short time. What you will find is a large group of people...More

Is a pity to see places like this and I don’t think this is related to any interest in culture or past as we are in 2018 and still all remains very much the same. I am sure we all have same places in all...More

I would not recommend to visit Soweto. Is a shame to show this to tourists . Just go to your city and look for the poor people quarters. Go to the museum to visit the discovery of the Homo Naledi. Very interesting for kids... More
