Most importantly, it stands as a beacon to guide all South Africans on the route of hope and patriotism to a proudly united nation. Freedom Park urge use to experience and appreciate our history, to walk where our ancestors have walked and to learn about our shared heritage as brothers and sisters.Go on a guided tour of Freedom Park at 09h00, 12h00 or 15h00; or take a self-guided tour. This is an outstanding place. In my opinion, the exhibition which tells the story of the development of South Africa is unique. I think it may be the best example of a museum I have seen, anywhere, period. The reason I think it is so successful is that it roots the story in the spiritual development of the South African... It is intended as a discussion point with neighbouring Voortrekker Monument, since they are in close proximity it is recommended to see both to have a balanced view from two sides of the conflict. It is well made multimedia exhibition.

We visited here after coming from the Voortrekker. They are very cose together, but there were a series of guard stops who looked at us strangely for wanting to visit, and carefully guiding us to the next guard. It was a long series of handoffs even until you get into the museum, that had us quite puzzled. I'm still not... More

We enjoyed every minute here. This new park and museum above the city is a must if you are in Pretoria. Excellent exhibitions, helpful staff.

The museum puts the troubled history of South Africa and, by proxy, the whole of erstwhile-colonized Africa in the context of the Africans' experience; this is in sharp, and necessarily jarring, contrast with the nearby Voortrekker monument. Would have loved to have spent more time in the museum than a 5 yr old would tolerate; the park itself is very... More

Freedom Park is a great new addition to the already historic city and surroundings. Freedom Park is conveniently connected to the Voortrekker Monument. The exhibition itself is great and serves as a stark reminder of our past. This is one of the best museums in Pretoria!

Features two (almost) separate attractions - the museum and its gardens. Exhibits housed within the impressive and well-designed modern "hapo". Pros - great exhibitions with informative interpretation boards and videos, would suggest at least 90 mins to do it any justice. - very beautiful and peaceful gardens which can be visited with a guided tour (3 times a day) or... Having gone to Freedom Park after the Voortrekker Monument I found this place to be without personality. There were no tour groups, no activities, restaurant not open, they had to call someone for us so they err could purchase some water. Perhaps the idea is to be more serious and reflective during a visit here and if so then they... More

Having spent the previous day in downtown Johannesburg this place could not be further removed. In fact the other end of the Gautrain line but the other end of the spectrum in terms of experience. Located close to Gautrain (15 minute walk) Freedom park literally frees the mind to understand and reflect on the complex and at times tragic history... More

When we visited Freedom Park on a Saturday we were expecting it to be bustling and full, but we had almost the entire park to ourselves. The museum, //hapo, had great exhibitions with at times too much information (especially the last part) but I will be visiting it again. One could easily spend three hours in the museum alone if...
