The Cheetah Centre in South Africa was established in 1971, initially as a cheetah breeding project and the Centre has during the past 40 years bred over 800 cheetah cubs. Various conservation projects have been initiated since its inception which also inlcudes a successful African wild dog breeding programme. Known in the past as the De Wildt Cheetah Centre the name has recently been changed to the Ann van Dyk Cheetah Centre as a tribute to the woman who has devoted her life to the survival of the cheetahs as well as other rare and endangered species

Cheetahs are highly endangered members of the cat family and this sanctuary/breeding programme allows visitors the opportunity to get up close and personal with these magnificent animals. The experience includes an informative guided game drive through virgin bushveld terrain, and introduction to members of smaller indigenous cats as well as wild dogs, which are critically endangered. It also features various... More

The staff was friendly and informative, the guide was entertaining and knowledgeable, the game viewer vehicle was comfortable and the animals were gorgeous (and knew it). Overall an afternoon well worth remembering, we talked about it for weeks.

We really enjoyed our visit to the cheetah centre. The staff were very friendly engaging and knowledgeable. We were exposed to the work that is done in rehabilitation and preservation of many animals at the centre - cheetahs, hyenas, vultures, wild dogs ... It was an awesome experience not to be missed!!

This is an excellent outing and well worth the price. You get up real close to the wild dogs and actually get to see the speed of the Cheetah. During their respective presentation you have an opportunity to do a photo shoot while touching the Cheetah. An awesome experience. Recommend any time.

The amount of information shared is just right for visitors from abroad, and clearly the guides love ecology and the animals. Guides are well-trained and knowledgeable, and my groups of US students rate this visit as one of their South African highlights. Animals look good and well fed, and spaces are clean and attractive. The venue is easy to find,... More

I was a volunteer at the center and I have nothing but amazing things to say about the center and the way they take care of all of their animals. The things that the center has done for the conservation of all of their animals is spectacular. I can't wait to come back!

My husband took me here for a surprise, but later he admitted that he was surprised at how much he enjoyed it. You get to learn about the animals and the centre. You get to interact with the animals. The photographic opportunity are plenty, so take your camera. One observation I made was how passionate our guide was about the... More

Beautiful place with people with hearts of gold caring for the animals. They best part for me was seeing the wild dogs. first time ever to see them in real life and wasn't expecting it.

Went there out of curiosity and decided to do the 3,5 hours tour whilst on a weekend away in Hartbeespoort. I was concerned that it would be too long - but was I surprised! This was the most amazing experience, full of learnings and interactions with cheetahs, wild dogs, hyenas, vultures etc led by two knowledgeable guides and their assistants.... More

Me, my wife and one of my sons visited here earlier this week. I simply cannot recommend it highly enough, it was an utterly fantastic experience. We started the morning after a briefing, watching the Cheetahs run. Our positioning was spot on as the Cheetahs seemed to do their handbrake stop right infront of us. It is a great thing... More
