My admiration for Smuts increased more and more while walking through the house with the expansive book collection and the interesting facts from the guide. Well worth a visit!

This yet one another museum that is kept in good order by creative means while obviously being starved of funds. I had unusual historical questions for which the curator was called. He went to much effort to help me with my requests and to show me around and make the visit very special. I thoroughly enjoyed the visit and being... More

The Smuts House Museum is definitely worth a visit. It's truly a place filled with interesting history. Jan Smuts was a phenomenal person and did a great deal for South Africa. The house is very well kept and information is readily available - the staff was very informative and helpful. The surrounding area is well maintained and we had an... More

The Smuts House Museum is a wonderful blend of a historic venue, a varied market, a relaxed tea garden and wonderful grounds with the crowning glory of the Oubaas Trail to the top of the Smuts Koppie. Parts of the trail allow dogs to be off their leads, but we found it less stressful to keep our chap on a... More

Amazing to find that one of the world's top statesmen of his day lived in such simple circumstances. This is the second time I've visited and hence I was able to absorb more: not only did he draft the Boer War ultimatum but also the peace treaty. Probably as a result of the horrors of war he seems to have... More

Amazing tour of what can only be described as one of the smartest people South Africa had the privilege to know. See and learn about the person who basically coined the phrase "Human Rights" and was a huge part in the beginnings of the United Nations. Many other fascinating facts on Jan Smuts and the Wars he lived and fought... More

Museum is acceptable, but the restaurant on site is an absolute LOST CASE ! waited one hour and 50 minutes only to find that the order was incorrectly brought to the table. Other complaints were made from 3 other tables. Spoiled our day !
