You will definitely want to take pictures of/with the statue. Try to go earlier in the morning or later in the afternoon in order to avoid the sun spoiling all your ambition! Or rather target cloudy days. The statue is tall so pictures with a bright sun behind may not be what you are looking for.

The square is fun, child friendly and has lots of restaurants to pick from. not the quick and cheap kind of restaurants but mid range and upwards. Great place to meet friends for a meal and let the day just go by

Was only here on a 2 night stay but wanted to get to the square to see the infamous statue! It's BIG! To be honest, the rest of the square is just a haven of restaurants, shops and the like. Great for photo ops with the Statue and the shopping mall is just that. A shopping mall with numerous clothes... More

Ideal place to base yourselves when you visit Joburg. Hotels, restaurants and a ginormous shopping mall. You will encounter a few beggars on the approaches but, generally, this feels much more comfortable than other parts of the city
