An amazing experience which has almost a bigger impact on me then the house of Nelson Mandela. A local guide told the story very well but reading the African text afterwards really hit me hard. Everybody has seen the iconic picture of Hector holding the...More

Very nice scenic memorial next to the Hactor Pieterson Museum. Nice and quiet with a view over Soweto. Would recommend it.

The memorial is just outside the museum. The memorial of course is important, but the museum is very interesting - so if you can, take the time to go inside to learn more.

This memorial is a good introduction to the museum and will support the visit to the museum. The strip of grass from the museum to the memorial is particularly moving.

We visited the monument and museum as part of our Soweto tour. The museum was well set out. Our young children 8,5 were not able to understand much about the visit but we thought it was very interesting.

A very historic gathering point. Local volunteers give you great recollection of the events of 1976. For some reason there is a spelling mistake on the monument as they forgot the "i" in Pieterson..

Seeing the water, picture and reading the plaque was very moving. The area wasn't what I imagined as the guide was telling us the history before we arrived. Definitely worth a visit. Also some impressive graffiti nearby.

We only stayed here for about ten minutes as we listened to the story and looked around. No more longer is needed.
