Follow the track from the camp. Wonderful views of the mountain, including the Policeman's Helmet. This time of year the bottlebrush is blooming and the protea just coming into flower. Wear boots as the path can be uneven and there are boulders to scale once...More

It is a good walk with many good vistas. However, do watch out for afternoon thunderstorms. The first hour of the walk is a steady uphill on an exposed and well-maintained path. Then about half-an-hour still exposed but mostly contouring. After that it goes into...More

What a lovely hike to do in the heart of the Drakensberg. Breathtaking views, nice clearly demarcated trail and a combination of terrain. In terms of difficulty, it’s not difficult and not a walk in the park either. The rocky section can be a bit...More

We anticipated a 22km hike and were surprised upon completion to find it was closer to 17. Hikers are advised approximately 5 hours to complete but at a fair pace while stopping to enjoy the scenery you're looking closer to 7/8 hours. The trail was...More

It's a must-see if you are in the region ! If there is only one hike that you can do, go for the Tugela Falls hike ! Even in winter, it's fabulous. When you reach the top, you are on a huge plateau, above everything...More

The hike from Thendele Camp to the Tugela Gorge is an absolute must! The trail follows the Tugela and sports magnificent views, lush forest, cool places to rest. There are crystal clear rock pools where you can swim and picnic. Highly recommended!

I've done many hikes and seen many sites throughout SA, but nothing compares to the beauty of this place. It is a relatively long hike but the gradient is gradual so most would be fine. The area receives rain in Summer and as such the...More

A favourite walk. One needs to be fairly fit. Nature along this trail is beautiful! It can be hot but there are many parts that one walks in the shade. We passed a few bushbuck and peaceful baboons. It's important to bring water and snacks.

As another reviewer noted it is longer than the map we had claimed for distance. Not a huge amount of elevation change (about 500m, 1500 ft.) but the path winds in and out following the contours of the hills so it takes a long time...More
