We decided to hit the Midlands Meander for the weekend and only booked accommodation the day before. It is a trip we have made many times but this time we had a newcomer and although we have done so many trips, it was fabulous to rediscover so many amazing places along the route through someone else eyes Always a hit... This beautiful piece of Kwa-zulu Natal is really a hidden Gem. Rich in history and our cultural heritage it is also home to quaint and quirky shops selling everything from biltong to leather goods. Lovely scenery.

Stopped there for lunch on recommendation. Was warned by locals that service was slow but pleasantly suprised by friendly quick service. Dissapointing was the harvest table. Outrageously expensive . You would expect that there is a meat dish which would raise the price...No meat dishes included .Cakes were fresh but dissapointing. Coffee was good.

If you want to spend a lovely day out in the country this is a great way to go. Loads to do from Swiss cheese and friendly goats to Belgium chocolate, piggly farm stall country style mall where you can create your own candles, eat pizza and shop for wine while the kids play in the play ground. If you... More

The midlands Meander hosts a range of great spots to visit and even to live in. Friendly stall and shop owners to great food and restaurants. For a great days outing of overnight stays this rustic countryside is a must visit for all south africans

It was a wonderful drive through the midlands, stunning views and lots of shops along the routes. One has to stop at Piggly Wiggly, good cup of coffee and lemon meringue pie to die for! Although it was a wet, miserable day the drive was so worth it. Met a lot of lovely people at our various stops.

I just love coming out here! There is something for everyone, and the midlands are just so beautiful. If you're in luck, you will even be treated to a Natal thunderstorm!
